Black swans in logistics. Konimpex workshop for ANS students
How to respond to situations that cannot be predicted and how to build resilience in logistics processes in a changing business environment. These were the topics discussed by logistics students during workshops at the University of Applied Sciences in Konin.
The specialist workshop for logistics students at ANS in Konin focused on this subject. The session was led by Adam Gościniak, Warehouse Manager at Konimpex. The workshop was carried out as part of the “Logistics of Your Career” project, which combines academic knowledge with business practice.
During the classes, participants were introduced to the concept of “black swans” in logistics, meaning rare and unpredictable events that can have a major impact on supply chains and operational processes. The discussion covered how such events can affect stability and continuity in the industry.
An important part of the workshop was the analysis of risk management approaches in conditions of uncertainty. Students worked on real logistics examples and learned practical methods supporting faster response to unexpected events. The discussed areas included diversification of activities, process optimisation, automation, and analysis of past experiences that can support operational decision making.
The meeting also had a strong practical dimension, as participants were able to apply the discussed topics to real professional situations and verify them through discussion with the instructor. Such exercises help to better understand how theory works in an operational environment.
From the instructor’s perspective, the most important aspect was the students’ engagement, their activity, and their relevant questions related to everyday challenges in the logistics industry. Such meetings show the importance of knowledge exchange between practitioners and the academic environment.
We would like to thank the students for their participation, openness, and engagement during the workshop.
