What are Alternative Raw Materials?
Alternative raw materials – sustainable, bio-based and recycled solutions
Alternative raw materials are modern products used as a functional and sustainable alternative to virgin resources. They are applied in the rubber industry, plastics processing and construction and road engineering, where consistent parameters, durability and responsible resource management are essential.
This group includes:
- process bio-oil
- mineral functional fillers
- reclaimed and devulcanized rubber
- rubber granulates and powders
- textile fillers
- recovered carbon black rCB
The wide range of properties allows these alternatuve raw materials to be matched to specific applications such as rubber compounds, road surfaces and technical components, supporting production efficiency and environmental goals while maintaining reliable performance.
Process bio-oil
ECOSKY-3103 – bio-based process oil for rubber compounds
ECOSKY-3103 is a next-generation process oil specifically engineered for use in tire and rubber compound production.
Developed from renewable bio-based feedstocks, including tall oil and its derivatives, it offers a sustainable alternative to conventional process oils.
This versatile product can be used on its own or blended with petroleum-based oils, delivering optimal performance while significantly reducing environmental impact.
Key Benefits of ECOSKY-3103:
- 100% plant-based and biodegradable
- Free from phthalates and carcinogenic substances
- Matches or enhances the performance of most petroleum and vegetable-based process oils
- Supports manufacturers in achieving sustainability goals without compromising on quality
Packaging Options:
Available in ISO tank containers (~20 tons) or IBCs (~1 ton).

Reclaimed and devulcanized rubber
Reclaimed and devulcanized rubber, an efficient and sustainable solution
Reclaimed and devulcanized rubber is a proven alternative to virgin raw materials, helping reduce production costs while maintaining high product quality. Depending on technical requirements and the intended application, it can account for 10 to 60% of a rubber compound.
Key benefits:
- reduced production costs, even with rising prices of virgin polymers
- maintained high technical performance of finished products
- flexibility to adjust formulations to both budget and quality requirements
- reduced waste and support for a more sustainable use of raw materials
Applications:
Reclaimed and devulcanized rubber enables the production of high-quality rubber products, from tires, treads, and inner tubes, through molded technical goods, hoses, flooring and mats, to footwear, conveyor belts, adhesives, cable insulation, as well as sealing components and membranes, combining durability, flexibility, and reliability across a wide range of applications.
Rubber granulates and powders
GreenGran® rubber granulate and GreenPowder® rubber powder are materials produced through the recycling of end-of-life tyres. GreenGran granulate consists of fine rubber particles of a defined fraction, obtained by shredding tyres and removing steel and textile components. GreenPowder is produced from purified granulate in a modern grinding mill, resulting in a fine, homogeneous material with low impurity content and stable, repeatable physical properties.
Key benefits:
- controlled particle size and uniformity
- mechanical resistance and durability
- cushioning properties and improved traction
Applications:
Rubber granulates and powders are used in the production of sports and recreational surfaces, such as sports fields, running tracks and playgrounds, where good cushioning properties and durability are required. They are also used in the manufacture of technical flooring and shock-absorbing mats, as well as a component of asphalt mixtures and construction materials, improving their elasticity and resistance.
